One of the original short films shown in the Ghibli Museum's video exhibition room "Saturn".
It was created based on the idea that there is a story of bread running away in a country that eats bread, just like the story of "Omusubi Kororin" in Japan. Going back to the origin of animation, "giving life to lifeless things", it is thought throughly that bread seeds and egg princesses may move like this. The bread seeds and egg princess that appear in this work are active as guides for the exhibition in the museum. It is a completely familiar character at the Ghibli Museum.
The music was composed by Joe Hisaishi, who is in charge of the music for all of Miyazaki's films. Based on Vivaldi's "La Foria", it is a modern reconstruction of music for the film.
●Synopsis●
"Baba Yaga" lives in a watermill deep in the forest of thorns. "Princess Egg", who was made a servant by her, was confined in a watermill and had a hard life every day. One night, the bread that was being kneaded by Baba Yaga suddenly came to life and began to move. "Princess Egg" escapes from the terrifying "Baba Yaga" with the "leaven". What will happen next for the two of them?
